Ten-year-old Oskar faces an overwhelming amount of schoolwork, extracurricular activities, social events, and pressure from all around him. As his backpack gets fuller and voices from the outside world get louder, Oskar can’t help but feel like he can’t handle it—any of it! What’s a kid have to do to deal with stress and to demonstrate resilience and grit? Oskar and the Last Straw is a high-energy show that encourages audiences to bounce back when they’re down, recognize their personal power, and be optimistic about the future.

Oskar and the Last Straw was originally commissioned, developed, and produced by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, California. The original touring production opened on February 27, 2012. It was directed by Mary Sutton. The stage manager was Mina Yueh. It was performed by Jon Deline, Casi Maggio, and Norman Munoz. The show continues to tour in California and Texas.
